TREKKING TO SYNTUNG (MEGHALAYA)
Last weekend we went for trekking to Syntung village, which is located in Mawkynrew Tehsil of East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya.
Besides being a fashion enthusiast, I am also a wanderlust who love to seek peace in between hills and valleys. This time we decided to go to Wah Rashi Falls also known as Haven of waterfall which is in Syntung village formed by 9 waterfalls as per the information gathered however we managed to explored only 6 waterfalls. The trek wasn’t that long, just hundred steps down, you get the first waterfall and after few patches more the next and so on..
The bus left the main city (Police bazaar) at around 7:00 in the morning and we reached the destination at 12 p.m, it took us quite long because the road was inappropriate and in bad condition. The most funniest part was when we came to know that the driver is new to that location as well and he is not familiar with the roads, so we had to asked the villagers after reaching every few miles and there were many two-lane route so it was quite confusing but the villagers were kind enough to guide us the way.
People there are helpful and pleased us with smile on their face. The villagers also mention that for camping it’s 300/- INR per night. They also provide a life jacket in case you are not a swimmer.
This was around 4p.m, by the time everyone were tired, some of them were sleeping on the ground as we were waiting for the food which was getting cooked, whereas, me and one of my friend decided to go the other side of the cliff where you can see the beautiful sunset view and the view was breath taking. We were overwhelmed with the place that we spend an another hour sitting there watching the falls and sunset wondering and admiring the beauty of God’s creation.
We got off the cliff and moved back to the areas where our tired friends were sitting/sleeping and by the time we reached there. the food was being serve. We had our food at 6p.m, left the place with full of good memories by 7p.m and reached the city at 10.30 p.m. After reaching there we were so mesmerized by its beauty that we couldn’t resist and kept on exploring the other waterfalls as to see what Wah Rashi has to offer us and nevertheless it didn’t dissapoint us, we stopped at the 4th fall and spend almost 2 hours there and had our lunch when in fifth fall.
It was almost 2.30pm by the time we had our food. After the food session we left for hanging bridge, the bridge was scary, it was shaking but at the same time it was thrilling. Later, we went back to the spot where all the trekkers were supposed to meet and to wined up our day.

Warning-It is a leech paradise so be careful and take a salt along with you, one of my friend got caught up by a leech in one of her leg, she jumped and screamed so loud that leech back off itself (LOL) but everyone might not be as lucky as her so I highly recommend to take care of yourself and your belongings.
